Internal Security Act 1960

Yo, before I start the topic today, I would like to announce a bad news. I can guarantee that I will have to work hard now because I can foresee the difficulty to score my Financial Management due to low course work marks. Mr Lee said that no marks will be awarded for the calculation parts in our assignment for those who didn't provide the entity's financial statements as attachment. I guess, my group's 'leader' didn't do so. Therefore, it is a harsh challenge again but I will fight till the end.

Alright, back to our topic today. After the Financial Management's lecture, I went to library as usual. Wow, so hardworking? Haha, you're wrong. I didn't go there to study but to sleep. However, I picked a law book to read today, it was 'General Law to Malaysia'. I am quite interested in law books after searching for the compensation to employee due to closing down of business in Employment Act and Labour Law, as you know, I needed this information to ensure that my dad was not unfairly treated.

As I flipped through the content, I found an interesting section, which was Internal Security Act 1960 (hereinafter called I.S.A.). This is because I.S.A. is the most common law used by the government to counter other politicians. Unfortunately, I just managed to read up to four pages due to time constraint. It doesn't matter, I disclose what the interesting part that I discovered here first.

I found that two definitions were so amusing. 'Fire-arm' means any lethal barrelled weapon of any description from which any shot, bullet or other missile can be discharged or which can be adapted for the discharge of any such shot, bullet or other missile and any weapon of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid, gas or other things, and includes any component parts of any such weapon as aforesaid.

I am wondering and doubt that whether males' 'weapon' is considered as fire-arm? This is because our weapon is barrelled in shaped and 'bullets' can be discharged. For those who pretend not to understand what I am talking here, I hereby clarify my sentence, the 'weapon' as mentioned here refers to penis whereas the 'bullets' refers to sperms. Nonetheless, the 'weapon' here creates life indeed, haha...

The second definition was 'Terrorist' which means any person who-
(a) by the use of any fire-arm, explosive or ammunition acts in a manner prejudicial to the public safety or to the maintenance of public order or incites to violence or counsels disobedience to the law or to any lawful order;
(b) carries or has in his possession or under his control any fire-arm, ammunition or explosive without lawful authority therefor; or
(c) demands, collects or receives any supplies for the use of any person who intends or is about to act, or has recently acted, in a manner prejudicial to public safety or the maintenance of public order.

Therefore, in this case here, I am wondering and doubt that whether we will be prosecuted under I.S.A. if we own fire-crackers as fireworks are considered as explosive ammunition. If that is the case, this coming Chinese New Year will be extremely boring. But wait, how about the fireworks that government plays every new year? Are they considered as terrorist as well? Hmm, so controversial!

Furthermore, I noticed that if we are joining a demonstration in public place, whether we are wearing the stated colour of cloth, which in the Minister's discretion that it dangers the public, we will be sentenced a fine of RM2000 or one-year imprisonment or both. If we are the leader of the demonstration, we will be prosecuted with a penalty of RM10000 or five-year imprisonment or both. Does it mean that if the demonstration is not held in public place, we are safe? Note that the public place here refers to those places which the public has the freedom to go to whether payment is made or not.

Haha, sometimes it's quite interesting and important to know some laws. We must know our rights and defend them. Talk to you soon. Bye.
