P4 Revision Class

Well, TARc internal P4 Advanced Financial Management's revision class started this Thursday. We discussed the answers for our TARc internally assessed paper on that day. My heart straight away sank after knowing the answers for Part A, which was a compulsory section because I roughly just got 10-15% of the total marks. This meant that I would fail this time even if I scored full marks for Part B, which I was pretty confident.

My mood was down due to this. I couldn't accept it. I always hope for the returns whenever I put in effort on something, this case is no exception either. Frankly speaking, P4 was the only subject which spent me so much effort but yet the results didn't seem to match my effort. Luckily, E.S.H. told me a theory. He said he was used to failures in academics and resat the papers for many times. He said this was fate. If it thinks that you're not capable yet, then it will fail you. In short, there is a meaning behind all the outcomes. Then, it retains us so that we can get used to it or sharpen ourselves from there on.

Yesterday, Dr Wong suddenly called me to help her carry her bags since she said she was okay and could do it herself when I offered her on Wednesday. It doesn't matter, it's always my pleasure to help you. When I reached her staff room, she told me that I didn't do well in Question 1, I was just okay. However, I was totally knocked out in Question 2. She wanted me to bulk up and work harder as well as buck up. She told me that she knew I had put in a lot of effort and she wanted me to work harder some more so that I can pass the ACCA. I will do it, Dr Wong, thanks for your concerns.

Dr Wong sacrificed a lot to us, ergo we wouldn't want to let her head down. She told us that the internal resit would be in June after our ACCA examinations. She said those who failed the internal paper must attend her revision class. This revision class is different from the revision class where we're conducting now. It's just for those who failed the internal paper. She's really dedicated. I had never seen such a lecturer before.

Before we called it a day, she told us that she was very happy because she noticed her students became smarter. In my opinion, all these are because of her effort and nags, we're now in the exam mode.

This morning, my cell phone rang. From my first instinct, I thought it was from Dr Wong and it was! Dr Wong asked me for opinion regarding her revision class. I told her that I appreciated her revision class a lot. I had never thought that she would conduct the revision class in this way.

She gave us a lot of questions which we had never seen before. This meant that, the questions were totally different in styles. She really put in a lot of time searching for questions for us. I thanked her. We had the same view, which was it's always better to try new questions with different styles than keeping on practising the questions with the same styles. This helped to prepare the students to face and tackle the questions in ACCA from every angle. This is particularly true as ACCA questions are those we've never seen before, especially those from the previous examiner, Mr Bob Ryan.

She also said that she felt sad because the number of attendants was low. She felt that they didn't appreciate her effort. I convinced her that this was due to the expiration of the student rented room's contract. I told her that most of them had gone back to their respective hometown. The owner is not willing to extend the contract for you just for 1 to 2 months. They would prefer to find a new long term tenant. She agreed with me and felt relieved.

Next Saturday will be my last time with Dr Wong if and only if I passed my internal papers, at least for a short period of time. I don't know what will happen to me. I can foresee that I will feel uneasy in the life without P4 because I used to do P4 questions every week.

E.S.H. told me that our results will be out on next Tuesday. I already accepted that I would fail this time and I just hope for the best. No matter what happens, the life still needs to carry on. Let the bygone, be the bygone.
