Stocks Sharing

Yo, I received Shen's sms when I was at SIM discussing about my part-time job after coming back from year end stock count in Bukit Mertajam.

We decided to meet at Old Town Farlim. He brought two of his friends who would be one of his fund pool's partners each. First and foremost, I told them about the procedures to open an online stock trading account. I even recommended a few investment banks for their reference.

Later, we began our topic, stock selection. As a beginner, Shen was so enthusiastic to learn the basics in stock trading. I provided him some concepts and personal opinions. I was so thrilled when I gave my advice as this is what I'm interested in, being a consultant. Of course, my advice was free of charge to them.

We picked some samples to analyse. Finally, we decided to have a meeting every fortnight since he wanted to learn more. Actually, I've been out of stock market for some time after having my audit job. I suggested them to diversify their portfolio instead of focusing on one particular stock.

Let's hope for the best and hopefully they can earn some returns in share market.

Advanced Diploma Convocation 2012

First and foremost, I would like to apologise for not updating my blog last week. Below is my reason.

Yoyoyo, I attended my Advanced Diploma Convocation at TARc last Saturday. Due to this, I purposely took advance annual leave on Friday to depart to Kuala Lumpur. Everyone in my office was pretty surprised when I took the leave because I was working for one week only.

I was the driver again even if I worked over time everyday and I was pretty tired. We went to fetch my grandpa before we left Penang. This was the first time my grandpa was willing to 'outstation' after 5 years.

We reached K.L. around 11:00 a.m.. Firstly, we headed to my sister's hostel to take my convocation's gown. Besides, we were going to buy mattress for her and her roommate. After that, we went to have our lunch. I was fed up with an incident before taking our lunch. I was declined to open a saving account at Genting Klang's CIMB Bank. The official told me that I should open the saving account at the branch near my house, my place of study or my workplace in my hometown.

Then, we went to my cousin's house to leave our luggage. I pretended to be one of the staff of my cousin's company in order to open a saving account at Kuchai Lama's CIMB Bank. The mortgage advisor, Bernard Tee told me that I didn't have to do so in my hometown, in fact I could open accounts at any branches.

Finally, everything was settled. I told my cousin that my mom and my sister wanted to buy 'Sticky'. Initially he didn't know what was I talking because they called it “公仔糖” in K.L.. He searched online and accidentally noticed its Facebook's page, there was a food fair or food expo at PWTC. Thus, we decided to go there as they offered a far lower price. Then we went to have Asam Laksa at 茨厂街. My youngest sister had her first experience taking L.R.T. that time.

On Saturday, it was a big day to me. It was not because of my convocation but it was the day to meet Dr Wong. Indeed, convocation was an event for me to gather or meet with my friends. This time, Y.B. Dato Chua Tee Yong was the one giving me the scroll. Out of my expectation, he told me “恭喜、恭喜” instead of 'congratulations'. Due to this, I smiled on the stage. There were fewer lecturers and tutors whom I know attending the parade, including Dr Wong. However, Dr Wong promised to wait for us at her office. My grandpa and my dad were the ones witnessed my convocation ceremony whereas my mom and my sisters were waiting outside the college hall.

After the end of the ceremony, it rained. For your information, my grandpa's super-sensitive to rain. Thereupon, I started to figure out a way to Dr Wong's office without getting wet. Yes, I headed straight away to Dr Wong's office instead of taking pictures with my friends or like what others normally did.

I couldn't find my good friends of my gang other than Vincent Pang. Where were they?

I met T.H.K. at Dr Wong's office. He was wearing a formal wear with coat. He told me that he didn't attend the convocation due to his late submission of the forms and money. Dr Wong was very happy to see me there and I passed her some biscuits from the well-known shop in Penang.

I got to know that T.H.K. had changed department in KPMG. He have changed to Advisory department of Corporate Finance. He told me that his job is exactly what we had done in P4 Advanced Financial Management. It sounds interesting and I believe that I would enter that department one day.

We started to take some photos:

This was taken by O.T.M. when I was going to queue up the stage to receive my scroll.

My family's photo. It was taken by A.C.P., thanks for that.

My family with Dr Wong. They were taken by T.H.K., thank you.

Dr Wong started to praise me when she saw my family members. Initially she spoke in English but I told her that they didn't know English, then she spoke in Mandarin. Dr Wong, actually you flattered me a lot.

T.H.K., Dr Wong, Mr Chong and I. My hook fell aside because I didn't bring any pin on that day.

Finally, Mr Chong extended his contract with TARc for another year. He told me that the P6 Advanced Taxation of ACCA in December 2012 sitting was easier than my sitting. Actually, I heard from Dr Wong before my graduation that Mr Chong was going to retire at the end of this year, luckily he extended his contract for another year. Dr Wong revealed that he is more passionate about his spiritual life.

T.H.K., O.T.M., Dr Wong and I. Dr Wong would ask us to take photo together whenever her students came. I still had some photos with Karthiyayini and others. Please send me the pictures for compilation, thank you.

These were the P4 family together with Mr Chong. These 3 photos were taken by Zack Tan's friend using their DSLR.

This is my youngest sister.

My best friend in TARc. I believed that I couldn't stand my life in TARc if he was not my listener.

I, W.S. and E.S.H..

This is Jennifer, O.S.K..

This is Vayne and I. I'm so sorry that my eyes looked weird. The first photo was because I forgot to shut my flash light. The second one was probably the flash light effect was still there.

This is Claire, whom I always called “表姐”. Actually, she looked prettier when she didn't make up. This is just my opinion. We looked like a vampire.

After that, we went back to meet my cousin for lunch. We had 怡保律酿豆腐 before we gave my younger sister her first experience to take L.R.T and monorail even though she has been in K.L. for few months.

This was taken in Pavilion. We witnessed the Sticky making process. It was amazing.

After we had our Bak Kut Teh as dinner, we went back to my cousin's house to rest. I met my nephew for the very first time at my uncle's house. He was so cute and I couldn't stop kissing him.

My nephew, Jensen and I. The one that I kissed him was with my uncle and I'm still waiting for him to tag me in Facebook.

On Sunday, we went to take my photo taken by the appointed photographer at TARc. I met some other friends over there, such as C.W.F., P.M.L., etc.. We went back to Penang after having our lunch at Puchong. It was a tiring journey and I almost met accidents, thanks god for blessing us to have a safe and sound journey.

There was traffic jam from Sungai Buloh to Rawang as there was car accident at Rawang due to heavy rain. I didn't know whether I was caught for speeding by A.E.S. Frankly speaking, I did speed and I didn't notice even one A.E.S. on my way to K.L.. Nonetheless, I did find two A.E.S.s on my way back.

Ergo, this was how I spent my days in K.L. to attend my Advanced Diploma convocation. I think, many of you may think that I miss the important moment but I'm not thinking in that way, as what I said, the purpose that I attended the convocation was to meet my friends and Dr Wong.

Audit Life

Yo, I have started working for one week as an Audit Associate. It was bizarre that the director of Deloitte offered me the position of Tax Associate last Wednesday when I was working at my client's place. I definitely would accept her offer if she informed me earlier. Nonetheless, she still hopes I can join them next year or half year later. Thanks for your consideration, Monica.

Being a fresh graduate, I hadn't involved in both tax or audit department before, hence I'm not sure which department is of my interest. Dr Wong does hope me to involve in tax as according to her classmate, who is the Tax Director at BDO KL, I can lean more in taxation and be a specialist. However, it hinders my opportunity to venture to overseas.

Frankly speaking, I started to regret on my first day working in audit. That certainly is not my cup of tea. What I like is my firm's environment. The manager, assistant manager, audit senior and colleagues are pretty good. They're humble, patience and willing to teach. This is what attracting me so much but not the audit work.

My conclusion after one-week audit experience is this job is not a humane job. Sacrifice is a major part in this job.

Last night, I played badminton again after at least one month. Eddy told me that audit is certainly a path which accounting graduates must go through. I don't agree with that. Aaron and Edwin are very happy at Dell as Financial Development Program candidates and they never regret with their decision. G.C. Lee from Dell was an auditor in Big Four as well, but she was happier joining Dell and denied the fact that audit gave her more exposure or experience.

If I were given the options, I would choose to involve in management. This is where I'm interested in and passionate about. Nevertheless, I can't claim ACCA PER objectives in this role. Thus, I have to join audit. My assistant manager complained about audit life as well on my first day of working. You can imagine how I would feel after that or the impact of negative message she conveyed to me.

However, she said I would be better master up the audit skills, then I can venture to overseas since the audit steps are almost similar. What dismayed me so much was I didn't know what to do. I was not familiar with the schedules, working papers and their formats as well. On top of that, this client is a newly incorporated company, thereupon substantial audit procedures have to be carried out. This worsens my first audit experience.

No matter what it is, I decide to stay with my current firm for a period of time, then I'll decide for my future. Let's hope for the best.

I'm Sorry 2

Yo, I got to know that Charlene will be in Penang next Thursday from newspaper. This is truly inspiring and fascinating as she is my idol forever. Do you guys still remember what I promised myself when I attended Twins 3650 album autograph event at Times Square Kuala Lumpur? I promised that I would be owning a DSLR the next time they come to Malaysia.

Nonetheless, I'm really sorry that I can't realise my promise. Charlene will be coming next Thursday at 6p.m. at Queensbay. I will be attending the event for sure without my DSLR. I hate this feeling. There is no other feeling that is worse than this. I must resurrect! I must build my career! I don't want to be disappointed once again!

It's not easy to build my career since it requires a strong relationship with my clients. Hence, it takes time. I have been sowing everywhere and hopefully I can harvest them sooner or later. I don't mind if it takes time but what I'm concerned are the results. I hate doing something wastefully or without something in return. Hopefully I'm still on the right track.

Career Fair

Today, I went to Career Fair with my friend, L.Q.X. at Penang International Sports Arena. It was raining lightly when I almost reached.

We planned to meet at 12p.m. but he was late due to traffic jam and he needed to fetch his friend. Well, I completed my registration and had a walk at Gift and Stationery Exhibition. There were plenty of booths over there. Most of them were doing the same business, which was customised souvenir.

I was challenged by a lady over there. She looked around my age but her arrogant was the problem. She asked me to register for a seminar but that seminar was not what I was interested in, hence I rejected her. Then, she started to ask for my career. I replied her that I was in service line. The challenge started here. She began to ask for my particulars and this provoked me as she didn't answer my questions. I meant, it was just a one-way communication and I disliked this.

She told me that she would be a Great Eastern Life Assurance's agent next year but she refused to reveal her agency. What a shame! She did proclaim that my speaking was too rush or fast but I countered back:"That's depending on who I'm talking to," I hoped she understood what I meant. Then, she quickly stopped our conversation. It was okay since I was not in form as well.

Since that, my mood turned down as I was busy figuring out where did I make the mistakes and how could I improve myself.

I did a survey at the Career Fair before my friend arrived. However, I could say that it was quite disappointing as there was no one accounting firm. There were few universities or colleges' booths to attract fresh graduates to further their post-graduate study.

There were multinational companies' booths as well. Nonetheless, they were all non-Penang based companies. This didn't attract my interest too. I collected quite a number of free gifts, such as note books, calendars and etc.. I collected some name cards as well.

I do hope that the Career Fair can include more firms or companies from different fields next time to make it more attractive.

It's Been A Long Time

Yea, it's been a long time since the last time I visited my grandpa. My dad's motorcycle was successfully redeemed from the police station on Thursday. Actually, we followed up every week since its lost but unfortunately, the police kept on delaying us by saying 'You have to wait until the case is closed' or 'Just wait until the court has taken the photo of your motorcycle'.

We began fed up and asked Mr Loke who was the ex-president of my apartment for help since he is so closed to the policemen at Ayer Itam and Farlim. He did help us a lot. The policeman started to do his work after that. He even handed the redemption letter to us personally. We quickly redeemed the motorcycle after my dad was back from work.

I visited my grandpa yesterday and today. It's good to see that he's healthy. We had some nice chatters. My grandpa took me a little bit aback when he told me that he had durians from his orchard. Why was I so surprised as there were durians at Balik Pulau? This is because this is the first time I can see durians in November at my grandpa's orchard. Normally, the durians are cultivated from April to June.

Alright, I possess my own motorcycle now, so I'll have more time with my grandpa.

恭喜 6

First of all, I would like to congratulate one of my Taiwan's drama idols, Ariel for winning 'The Best Actress' award last Friday with《我可能不会爱你》. This was the second time she got this award since 2008. To be honest to you, I haven't watched the drama yet, ergo I better don't leave any comment here.

My sister attended her Diploma convocation today. Unfortunately, I couldn't enter the College Auditorium as I didn't possess an entrance ticket. Miss Karamjit Kaur told me that I might enter the hall at the second floor because this was the local Universities' practice. Nonetheless, this practice was not applicable to TARc. I was so disappointed.

After we arrived at the college, I moved to find my Darling. However, she was not around. Then, I saw some AAC's friends over there, so I thought I might find my part-time girlfriend number one there. I called her. I condemned her for not issuing me a notice regarding her convocation, of course I did it purposefully in order to tease her. At last, I found her at SOT Block.

We took some pictures. Then, I met Eric Foong, one of my friends there. Out of a sudden, I became one of the persons in charge. Definitely, I was not paid for the service. When the graduates enter the CA, I began to walk to canteen. I noticed that there was no chicken rice and this was confirmed by the economic rice auntie. Out of my expectation, both of them recognised me. The auntie that loved us very much looked slimmer and younger now. I'm not joking over here. This could be due to her dyed hair and thinner body. She was so happy when I said she looked prettier. She was the one that, whenever Johnson said he was hungry, she would give him a bigger portion of the food.

After that, I went out of college to know more people, which I'm currently doing nowadays. There were quite a number of stalls selling flowers, bears and souvenirs. I was enthralled by a stall's design. They were the most creative one amongst others. We had a fun chat over there. She is an account in a China company that deals with the second Penang Bridge. She told me that she was an auditor and she found that she disliked accounting, actually. Finally, she set up her own flower shops at Relau as a part-time.

Her helper, who was also her friend, a saleswoman, told me that I should get involved in sales because she noticed that I was not the kind of people wanting a stable and peaceful job. She also taught me some marketing skills. Thanks for that.

After the convocation, they took photographs everywhere. I phoned my Darling but she told me that she was not in college because she had an injured leg. I promised to schedule a time to meet her then. I phoned Dr Janice Toh, we met outside the administrative office. She told me that I had to improve my English. She even teased me, "That's why I ask you to speak English in college. But all of you don't bother me. Now, you know what I mean." She revealed that Dell in fact, was very keen on me. Alright, maybe I will contact them later.

Congratulations once again to Ariel and all the graduates. Keep up the work rate and may God bless all of you in the future.
