OSK Investment Challenge

Yo, today is the last trading day of this competition, hence all the results will be compiled and announced later. Unfortunately, I failed to get into the top 20.

Here is my performance: My total game portfolio value is RM104,181.57; Cash value is RM83,981.57; Stock value (stock in hand) is RM20,200.00 whereas my overall ranking (Championship Rank) is 5440th.

Actually this game should not be called 'investment' as investment is meant for long term, instead it should be called 'speculation' as the duration of the competition is just roughly 4 weeks. We were given RM100,000.00 as our initial capital. Ergo, I'm satisfied with the profit that I earned in terms of value but dissatisfied in terms of earning rate (%).

As you could see here, my overall earning rate was about 4%. This is truly low since 10% return would be the minimum expectation for an investment. Nonetheless, I could earn RM4000 within one month with RM100,000. This is what I look for in the future. If I could do this, I would probably resign and enjoy my pension life earlier, lolz...

Actually, none of my portfolio suffered a loss. Then, why I just earned so little and my ranking was so low? This was due to the prudence concept. Initially, I diversified my portfolio in order to mitigate the risk. Furthermore, I just invested in small quantity, such as 10 lots to 20 lots for each stock. This was what contradicted with the winners' approach. They were risk takers. Moreover, I didn't fully utilise my fund. If I'm not mistaken, I just used half of it for my investment.

The first-day's winner, I forgot what his name was already, he earned RM20,000 to RM30,000 and subsequently he lost out. This might be due to his arrogant. He was bragging about his tactic and releasing false information to other participants. I don't know what is his ranking now. Hopefully this is not a massive blow to him.

So now, the top winner is SEON with a total game portfolio value of RM138,918.88. We have a great distance between us if you compared his and mine. But it's okay as I'm content with my results. I started to transform into a long term investor and who look for small value stocks since I know my friend, Jared.

I hope I can be like him one day or perhaps realise my dream.
