Football 5

It had been quite a long time I didn't write about this title. Well, in this post, I basically want to comment on the transfer market by some teams.

Firstly, should Arsene Wenger pays so much faith in Olivier Giroud? Frankly speaking, I didn't watch his matches in full, I just watched his performance through highlights. Therefore, I'm not so sure about his footwork, skills and techniques. However, one thing that I'm sure is that he likes to waste chance. As a centre forward, he should be confident enough to score goals but what he showed me so far was a 'chance-waster'. He couldn't score a few open goals, he shot them wide.

On the other hand, the new boys, such as Santi Cazorla and Lukas Podolski were excellent. Nonetheless, they were not at their best form yet. Even though Cazorla has very good footwork and skills, his long shot was not powerful and accurate. From what I know, he is a right midfielder or winger but Wenger decided to play him at centre midfield.

Podolski is a genuine side striker, he is particularly good at dribbling and shooting, hence he should not be played at left midfield or winger. Wenger should make best use of them in order to win. Even if they're flexible, they still need time to cope with the change. There is no doubt that Wenger is particularly good at deploying players at their best position as for the case of Theo Walcott.

The last match of Liverpool vs Arsenal, I had no doubt that Arsenal could win. This was because both teams were struggling in midfield and compete with short passing as well as skills. Being a beginner of this tactic, Liverpool were truly at disadvantage. Hopefully Arsenal can simulate Espanyol's style to find a breakthrough this season by winning something.

The Red Devils, my favourite team in English Premier League, I doubt Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to buy Robin van Persie. I don't mean that he is not good. He was the PFA of the Year 2011/2012, hence he is brilliant. However, Manchester United are in excess of strikers, they wouldn't have to cash out so much to a 29 years old player who has quite exceptional injury history. It would be a good transfer if Red Devils are short of strikers but given the number of strikers which is already in excess, the 24 millions pounds deal is not worthwhile. Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck should be given regular chance since they form the parts of the future of Red Devils' squad.

One of my reasons that I support Manchester United is that I see eye to eye with Ferguson's youth system. He should train the youth strikers and use the 24 millions pounds to strengthen other positions, for instance both side backs. They need some energy and experience in those positions. Playing Rafael da Silva at the right back is a good move as he is young, fast and energetic. It's a good timing to train him and feed him with experience while other defenders are consistent with their performance.

Nevertheless, Red Devils should find a suitable replacement or successor for Patrice Evra. He is already 31 years old. We can't guarantee him to be in good shape and great form at all times and in all matches. It's ridiculous to think in that way.

From what I know about Manchester United, they're famous with their defence where consistent performances from the back four usually guarantee them some trophies. Nonetheless, I found that they are compromising their defence to reinforce their attack.

The recruitment of Shinji Kagawa would be a well replacement for Paul Scholes but the former is not familiar with the central role. He is more like a shadow striker. Given that side attack or wing attack is the main attacking point or style of Manchester United, the inclusion of Kagawa would hamper this formation and lose their balance. The wing players would be of no use in the team in the formations of 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1.

Initially, my ideal formation was 4-4-2 with David De Gea, Rafael da Silva, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Nani, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverly, Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney. However, in this latest squad, my ideal formation in 4-4-2 would be David De Gea, Rafael da Silva, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Nani, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverly, Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.

Hopefully both Arsenal and Manchester United would overtake Manchester City whom were built up by money now and then.
