The Keys of Hell

Well, you might know that I just finished a novel which I had bought 6 years ago if you were aware of my Facebook status's update on Tuesday. The title today is the title of the novel which I meant.

It's a 264-page novel written by Jack Higgins who receives numerous commendations from San Francisco Chronicle, The Associated Press and etc. It's just a book with a dimension of approximately 17cm x 1.8cm x 10.5cm and a font size of 12. In conclusion, it's a relatively short story, then why I took so much time to finish it?

I bought this book when I was in Form 4 from Tesco Penang. There was a book sale with promotional price. I decided to buy it because it just cost me RM10, the attractiveness of the title as it seemed cool and my will to strengthen my English. I bought two books in total. I started to read this novel, 'The Keys of Hell'.

Within few days, I began to relinquish since I needed to search dictionary for the words which I didn't know or understand. Imagine, almost half of the page was filled with the meanings. You can imagine how poor my English was. What annoyed me was I had to find the meaning of the same word repeatedly since I forgot what I had found out last time. Then I paused to a halt.

If I'm not mistaken, I started to read the novel again when I was taking my Diploma. Nonetheless, the same thing occurred again but I read more chapters that time. I brought this novel along when I was moving to Kuala Lumpur for Advanced Diploma's study, just in case I got bored. However, it was left at the side until the commencement of this semester. I took the initiative to find back the novel and make up my mind to finish the novel.

I re-read the novel from the very first page because I had forgotten the story. The process was quite smooth and entertaining partly due to the story and meanings which I found out earlier. To achieve my target, I even set aside my academic text books and concentrated on my novel. Eventually, I did it on Tuesday.

As a summary, it'll be a novel recommended by me but I think, it's not suitable for girls as the content talks about smuggling, adventure and so on. I love the adventure's parts. This is what I always look and train for. In an adventure, all you need are the courage, judgement, intelligence and so on. Thanks to this novel, I learned some techniques and skills.

I'm looking to finish the second novel which I had bought six years ago together with this novel but I didn't bring it along. Nonetheless, this wouldn't stop me. I'll continue my e-books after I manage to catch up with my study. I think, I start to have this reading habit since the book fair with Jared and Ping. They're my real models.

Fitness First

My cousin called me about 11:00 a.m., she was asking me to Fitness First to have some gyms because her friend, Yen Fong (if I'm not mistaken) had some free vouchers. Initially I was reluctant to go as I wanted to finish my novel but she called me twice, then I finally agreed.

My first impression on the Fitness First at Cheras LeisureMall was not good as the centre looked small. Even though it was better and bigger than the TARc ones, but it still looked small to me as a professional fitness centre.

I started by taking some free loads (weights). Thereafter, I went to have a sit-up. I met my cousin and her friend at the running machine. I wanted to train my stamina so I began to run for 10 minutes, my fastest speed was 10 km/hr. It was okay to me and in fact, I could run faster. I used to run very fast because I played as a forward or winger in football field. Speed was not a problem to me. See here, I use past tense. Meaning that I'm damned slow now and my stamina's even worse!

Then I started my training with the rowing machines. From what the personal coach explained, rowing machine was meant to train cardiovascular. Yes, it did but to me, it was more towards training my arms' muscles. This was my first time to finish 5000 metres of workout. It took me roughly 20 minutes to finish the workout.

There were classes for yoga, martial arts, cycling and etc. After my exercise, I went for sauna but the sauna was not what was shown on television. It was just a hot room, no steam at all. Beside the sauna room was a steam bath room. I stayed there for quite a long time, about 20 minutes. It was not as hot as I expected and I sweated. I believed that that was not my sweat but the steam. In scientific term, it shouldn't be called steam, as a steam is a water vapour at boiling point. It was just about 40-50 degree celcius.

Then I went to have my bath, hair shampoo and body shampoo were supplied. After that, I had a cup of coffee at the pantry. I had some 100 plus during my exercise. Then it was the end of my experience in Fitness First. In short, it's quite an enjoyable place to go if you go with friends. Indeed, you can do all the exercises at home by yourself but the apparatuses there will make exercise more entertaining.
